^Lot 3211A ENGRAVED BELGIAN JON LEFAUCHEUX SXS PINFIRE

SHOTGUN. Cal. 17mm Pinfire. S# 455. One of the first breechloading systems utilizing pinfire cartridges patented by Casimir Lefaucheux in 1835. The 27.75" barrels have front bead & engraved on rib "Jon Lefaucheux". Receiver, lever, top tang, hammer, & locks have decorative engraving that includes motifs of clam shell pattern & pineapple patterns. Locks have engraved pointers, bottom of receiver has pointer bust & triggerguard bow has engraved bugling elk. Straight grip walnut stock with wrap around point pattern checkering. LOP: 13.5" with steel buttplate. WEIGHT: 6 lbs., 7 oz. CONDITION: barrels have fair fading blue mixing with brown patina showing light verdigris underneath rib, marks around breech end of barrels & scattered peppery oxidation. Receiver & locks have pleasing gray patina. Wood has good finish with Deep impressions, blister spots on left side, wear to checkering & scattered marks. Buttplate has fair blue mixed with brown patina showing finish loss around screws along with deep marks. Shiny bores show light pitting & scattered minute dents. Appears mechanically fine with barrels tight on face. (01-26864/MD). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
